Look forward to Apple’s Shift to USB-C in iPhone 15
Apple’s ‘Wonderlust’ Event: iPhone 15 Unveiling on September 12
Apple has sent out invites for a special event scheduled for September 12, where the tech giant will reveal its iPhone 15 series. Dubbed “Wonderlust,” the event will be held at Apple Park with an in-person audience and will also be live-streamed on Apple’s website for a global audience. The event is set to kick off at 10 AM Pacific Time and will start at 10:30 PM in India.
Let’s delve into what’s expected from the iPhone 15 series:
The 2023 iPhone lineup is anticipated to feature the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max models. Key highlights may include a periscope camera, an Action button, and the powerful A17 Bionic processor. Speculations suggest the A17 chip might power the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, while the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus may retain the A16 Bionic chip from the current iPhone 14 Pro lineup. Additionally, new color options are expected with the iPhone 15 series.
USB-C Connector
A significant change in the iPhone 15 series is the switch to a USB-C port, replacing the lightning port used by Apple since 2012. This shift aligns with the European Union’s mandate requiring USB-C connectivity in all devices by 2024. The USB-C port could potentially offer much faster data transfer speeds of up to 40 Gbps compared to the lightning port’s limited speed of 480 Mbps.
Action Button
The upcoming action button is anticipated to take over from the alert button, enabling quick toggling between various functions. Similar to the one on the Watch Ultra, this button may perform multiple tasks such as adjusting camera settings, activating flashlights, managing focus controls, using magnifiers, accessing shortcuts, enabling silent mode, recording voice memos, and utilizing translation tools.
Dynamic Island and Camera
Dynamic Island, initially seen in the iPhone 14 Pro series, is expected to become a standard feature in non-Pro models, starting with the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. In the Pro lineup, the flagship iPhone 15 Pro Max may exclusively boast a Periscope telephoto camera sensor, enabling up to 6x optical zoom. The base models of the iPhone 15 series might also upgrade to a 48MP sensor, replacing the 12-megapixel sensors seen in the standard iPhone 14.
Titanium Build
The iPhone 15 series is anticipated to become lighter through the adoption of titanium construction.
