The iPhone 15 begins at $799, aligning with the last trio’s prices.

During their September event in Cupertino, California, Apple revealed the iPhone 15. The world’s most valuable company, now valued at an astonishing $2.75 trillion, introduced four new models on Tuesday.

  • iPhone 15 ($799 – $1099)
  • iPhone 15 Plus ($899 – $1199)
  • iPhone 15 Pro ($999 – $1499)
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max ($1199 – $1599)

What changes have occurred?

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will persist with the A16 Bionic chip, while the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will debut the new A17 Pro chip, constructed using a 3nm process.

The most notable change this year concerns the charging method. To comply with European regulations, Apple has embraced the USB-C charging standard, replacing the long-standing Lightning port. This shift to the new cable is anticipated to enhance data transfer speeds and simplify charger compatibility across various devices for consumers.

How much have current iPhone prices increased?

The annual tradition of unveiling the latest iPhones has continued since the late Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs, introduced the first iPhone in 2007. This groundbreaking piece of technology has transformed into the world’s most beloved smartphone and Apple’s top-selling product.

The original iPhone debuted at a price of $499. However, the subsequent year saw the more budget-friendly iPhone 3G, priced at just $199.

iPhone prices remained steady following the 2009 launch of the iPhone 3GS until the introduction of the iPhone 5c in 2013, which, at $99, marked a significant milestone as the most affordable iPhone in history.

As prices gradually increased due to market demands for feature-rich phones, the iPhone’s pricing steadily rose, especially with the introduction of the larger and pricier Plus models aimed at accommodating larger screens.

However, it was in 2017 when Apple took an unexpected turn with the iPhone X, reaching unprecedented price levels at $999. Though initially daunting to many, more consumers began to adapt.

Now, with an initial price of $799, the base model iPhone 15 maintains the same starting price as the previous three models spanning from the iPhone 12 (released in 2020) to the iPhone 14 (introduced in 2022).
